Want to play with an orchestra? Then join our friendly weekly rehearsals
Peckham Chamber Orchestra (PCO) was founded by Hannah Jones with the aim of offering the chance to people of all ages, backgrounds and musical abilities in an enjoyable, productive orchestral community.
Hannah believed that gathering to make music is more important than achieving perfection and, with a background as a viola player in ensembles based in London, Oxford and Doncaster, she decided that Peckham needed an intermediate orchestra open to all.
After four years and 12 concerts Hannah has decided to take a back seat, but as before we take a collective approach to making music, and anyone is free to suggest music and, should they want to, conduct as well.
And unlike other orchestras we are free to join, although players are asked for a £1 donation to hire the rehearsal space each week. We do not audition - just come along and play!
We meet every Wednesday evening from 7.15pm to 9pm usually at Peckham Liberal Club, 24 Elm Grove, London SE15 5DE but sometimes at other venues when the club is being used for filming.
We are currently rehearsing for our Christmas/Winter concert which is on the 12th December. It will be our 16th concert.
